Dipping a toe in the blogpond
Hello out there.
I am entering the blogosphere with my daughter, Emilia (21), at my side to guide me.
I wrote this book called THE RED TENT, which is probably why you stumbled upon this webdiary. I will be posting about TRT as that vermilion shelter will be ten years old in September — so expect a little hoopla. But this space will be mostly devoted to the more than in my life — my other projects,
musings, rants, etc.
I’ll be back soon, as soon I figure out how to navigate this universe with a little finesse.
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed The Red Tent I am now reading Pitching my Tent. Reading it quickly so as to be finished when you visit our beautiful Cape Town on the 11th!
I look forward to hearing you and perhaps meeting – how about a visit to a friendly Cape Town home – I would be honoured.
Lauren:
Thanks for being my first “commenter.” I look forward to meeting you and others in Cape Town soon. I’m dizzy with anticipation.
I am almost finished reading the Red Tent & will be in a discussion group next week. That is how I stumbed upon your website and blog as I was looking for possible discussion questions.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Red Tent and even though you are beyond it, I believe many other readers will continue to ponder the lives of Dinah and her Mothers as you presented them. I am glad you discovered midrash! I was moved to go back to the Old Testament to reread these stories. I am so happy we have progressed beyond the limits that were imposed on these women whose spirits for the most part were not suppressed. I am also thinking of the women who live in present day Iraq & neighboring countries. I hope they have the opportunity to read the Red Tent!
