Music
It all began one dark and stormy night when Anita Diamant was in her car, listening to a CD by her friend, Bert Seager a jazz pianist and composer. Inspired by his melodies, she asked Seager’s permission to try writing lyrics for some of his songs. His "yes" led to a new collaboration and ultimately to the release of the CD, Requited.
The music is accessible and varied, with licks of gospel, art song, and Broadway folded into a rich jazzy batter; the lyrics are full of honest emotion and grown-up turns of phrase. The disc features an all-star five piece band, fronted by vocalist Rebecca Shrimpton.
Requited means "given in return," "completed," or "made whole." "Requited is a word that describes how I felt working with Bert," says Diamant. "This CD is a celebration of hope and love."
